Dionne Butler Van Purnell grew up on a stool in her grandpa's kitchen, tasting everything. Those flavors carried her through decades in New Orleans and Baton Rouge kitchens — from the King Fish Restaurant on Poydras to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Sammy's Grill, and Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant.
Today, as Chef Dionne B., she brings that same soul to weddings, corporate events, grazing tables, private chef dinners and the Done by Desires cookbook — a life spent feeding people, now plated for yours.

For weddings and large events we recommend booking 3–6 months out. Private chef dinners and meal prep can often be arranged within 2–3 weeks depending on availability.
Desires Catering is based in Louisiana and regularly serves Baton Rouge, New Orleans and surrounding parishes. Travel outside the region is available on request.
Absolutely. Chef D. builds every menu around your guests — vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergy-conscious and kid-friendly options are all part of the conversation.
